ETA’s vessel layout skills and experience are considerable. ETA has developed spreads for a range of purposes across all the major subsea cable markets and can manage everything from design, to procurement and mobilisation.
We have converted telecoms cable vessels to Power Cable/Umbilical layers, including the design of deck layout and full manufacturing drawings for modifications to cable tanks, tank cones, coiling arms, gantry, deck quadrants, cable engine seats and chute.
We have prepared deck layout designs and class approval for fitting of large cable trenching ROV to ‘flatback vessels’ and supplied the mobilisation engineers.
In the offshore wind market we have provided deck layout design and class approval for barges to be used as cable lay vessels for installation and plough burial of export cables including design and full manufacturing drawings for equipment seats, cable tank, gantry, coiling arm, and deck quadrants etc. Mobilisation engineers were also supplied by ETA.
ETA have also provided deck layout and detailed design including class approval for inspection ROV and specialist mine disposal equipment. Below you will find a small sample of ETA’s past experience.

IT intrepid – Plough: Deck layout and design for conversion of telecoms maintenance vessel to ‘ploughing’ vessel. Including tow winch foundation.
.

Eclipse - LORI/LORI II: Conversion of ‘flatback’ supply vessel to cable lay vessel for lay of scientific array cables. Design included deck layout and full manufacturing drawings for all cable equipment seats (inc. 50 tonne drum engine), cable tanks, chutes etc. Mobilisation engineers supplied by ETA. Additional cable tanks and sensor storage added for LORI II.
Clean Sea – Cable Recovery: Deck spread for the recovery of large volumes of power cable. Included feasibility study and examination of stowage, cable handling, recovery and recycling methods and options. ETA Produced deck layouts and fabrication drawings for the full stowage arrangement.
